Quilt Online Auction Raises Funds for STARS Air Ambulance

Online auction a huge success!

December 8, 2011 - Syngenta Canada is pleased to announce the results of the online auction of six stunning quilts selected from more than 60 entries. The auction, which began on November 7 and ran through December 6, was a huge success. Proceeds from the auction totalled $3,500.00, and will be donated to the Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS) program based in Calgary.

“The auction created a lot of excitement,” stated Tracy Clark, Marketing Communications Manager for Syngenta Canada. “There were more than 180 bids which came in not only from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, but also Ontario and the United States.”

The queen size quilts, three hand-quilted and three machine-quilted, were created by women from five prairie Hutterite colonies, and each boasted an original pattern in a variety of fabrics.

“STARS is proud to have been chosen by Syngenta as the recipient for the funds raised from the quilt auction,” commented Gurpeet Lail, Director Annual Giving, Events & Major Gifts for STARS. “Our organization relies on the generosity of individuals, local communities and companies such as Syngenta. Thanks to the continued support we receive, we are able to provide a safe, rapid, highly-specialized emergency medical transport for the critically ill and injured.”

“We would like to thank everyone who bid on the quilts and congratulate the successful winning bidders. These quilts are sure to become treasured possessions,” concluded Clark.
