Leadership Programs

Syngenta Grower University™
The Syngenta Grower University (Grower U) Business Foundations program is an intensive farm management course designed to help Canada’s top producers run their operations with increased confidence and profitability by adopting the most effective and up-to-date business management skills and techniques. Each year, Syngenta selects 40 top producers from across Canada to attend Grower U.

The program is held over four days at the prestigious Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. Grower U provides a unique business learning experience that is truly tailored to meet the challenges facing today’s farming operations.

Graduates of Grower U are community leaders capable of running their farms in a more business-like manner with increased confidence, motivation and profitability. This helps ensure the future growth and sustainability of their business.

Syngenta Grower University™ II
Developed as the next step for Grower U graduates and launched in 2010 at the Richard Ivey School of Business, this four-day intensive farm management course drills deeper into the farming business. Sessions include farm strategy, leading people, capital investments and financial projections and planning.

Syngenta Superintendent University™
Based off the successful structure of Grower U, Superintendent University (Super U) offers selected golf course superintendents an interactive business skills program to enhance their course management effectiveness. Launched in 2008, Super U recognizes that golf course superintendents are spending more and more time on business management in addition to caring for turf. The program qualifies participants for Continuing Education Units with the Canadian Golf Course Superintendents Association as well as the US Golf Course Superintendents Association.

Leadership At Its Best
Leadership At Its Best® (LAIB) is a leadership development program crafted by Syngenta, specifically for the leaders and board members of grower associations. The program encourages strong, effective grower associations to support agriculture leadership in Canada. LAIB has been contributing to Canadian board member engagement and to enhancing organizational effectiveness and management. The program is held over two and a half days with interactive and engaging sessions designed to mirror situations relevant to the grower association and challenges of today’s agriculture. The sessions address topics specifically for Canada. Board members walk away with a greater strategic awareness, enhanced communication, spurred creativity and greater ownership and engagement in the association.
