Work-Life balance

Flexible, unbureaucratic, family-friendly

Syngenta offers a flexible work model which provides for a good balance between professional and personal obligations.

Syngenta Switzerland follows a 40-hour work week. When determining your individual work hours, it is important to find the right balance between operational requirements and personal needs.  Work hours will always be arranged in consultation with the line manager and the team. It is the fulfillment of the tasks assigned, and not the time actually present, that is paramount. In addition, the number of annual holidays to which an employee is entitled is well above the legal minimum.

All permanent employees of Syngenta companies in Switzerland are authorized signatories for the company within the scope of their work area. Two signatures are required for transactions with third parties. With regard to transactions with companies within the group, sole signatory authority applies, except in the case of contracts. This arrangement allows Syngenta to promote the least bureaucratic transaction flow possible.

Family-friendly initiatives

Furthermore, Syngenta promotes appropriate work-life balance with numerous family-friendly initiatives. These include: eighteen weeks of maternity leave, six working days of paternity leave, up to three days of paid leave to arrange child-care in case of illness or accident, as well as child and education allowances that exceed the statutory minimum. Also, child care service offers, discounted Reka checks and personnel restaurants, as well as independent free social services and legal advice help in combining work routine with family duties. Annual events for employees and their families are also well attneded by their children, which is evidence of Syngenta’s successful focus on family-friendly structures.
