Children Get Involved By Getting Creative

Syngenta’s Crop Protection business has launched an innovative children's drawing competition to promote the use of Defy, Syngenta's residual grass weed control product in cereals.

The competition is split into two categories, one for 3-6 year olds and one for 7-11 year olds. The younger age group are tasked with drawing an arable farm scene with a tractor or sprayer. The older children's task is to draw a futuristic tractor or sprayer. The first prize in each category is a £250 Toys 'R' Us voucher and £50 vouchers for each of the runners-up.

The competition runs until 1st November 2010. The first prize winners not only receive their vouchers, but will also have their winning entries published in a full page display in Farmers Weekly!

Grass weeds are infesting new land every year and post emergence applications are no longer a reliable method of delivering acceptable levels of control. Defy is Syngenta's answer to the problems of black-grass and rye-grass, and it is a key component of all grass weed programmes. Defy pre and post emergence strategies are also effective in the control of meadow-grass in winter wheat and winter barley.
