Digline i

Leafminer

Product guide

Product description

Digline I contains Diglyphus isaea is an ectoparasitic wasp specialised in attacking the larval stages of leafminer pests (Liriomyza sp. Phytomyza sp.) Each vial contains 250 adult wasps.

Leafminer parasite

  • Source of food & moisture in cap
  • Paralyses pest with its sting
  • Leaf damage stopped quickly
  • Adult females feed on leafminer
  • Life cycle is faster than leafminer
  • Ideal for covered salad crops

General information

Diglyphus adults lay their eggs next to paralyzed leafminer larvae. The eggs quickly hatch and begin to feed. The paralyzed leafminer larvae discolor and move away from the tip of the mine and become flaccid and unresponsive. Multiple parasitism is common, but can produce smaller Diglyphus adults. The parasitoid pupates inside the leaf mine before hatching out and continuing the cycle. To clean up high populations of leaf-miner, use Abamectin (DYNAMEC® VERTIMEC® / AGRIMEC®) or Cyromazine (TRIGARD® outside UK).

Instructions for use

  • Release early in the morning or in late afternoon
  • Undo the lid; regulate release of wasps by gently tapping and inclining the vial whilst walking through the crop
  • Distribute as widely as possible
  • Two releases of 0.25-0.5 adults per m² at 1 wk intervals
  • Use yellow sticky traps to monitor adult leafminer emergence
  • Early releases (Jan-May) establish best on larger leafminer larvae: The 2nd & 3rd leafminer instars are ideal for parasitism
  • Treat the 2nd generation 1 week after the catch increases and new mines begin to appear
  • Continue monitoring traps and repeat procedure when leafminer catches increase
