What is top of mind for growers at this time of the year? A closer look at the many faces of agriculture across the globe.

A new year through the eyes of a grower

For some growers, December and January mark the end of a long growing season. With short, gloomy days – perhaps even frost and snow on the ground – there may not be much to do out on the fields. Instead, the growers focus their energy on making the right decisions to prepare for the challenges of a new year.

For other growers, these months mark the beginning of a hot summer and a period of intensive crop care. The difference between a good harvest and crop failure depends on choosing the best seed varieties, the correct application of crop protection, making sure irrigation systems are working to capacity, and applying the right kind of fertilizer.

Syngenta talks to a selection of growers to find out what they are growing and what is on their minds as the world looks back on 2011 and ahead to 2012.
