Science and technology don’t sit still. Build your career at Syngenta to match the pace of innovation.

At Syngenta, we don't just offer jobs. We build lifelong careers.

We’re a team of passionate innovators united by our shared purpose: to help farmers feed a growing population while protecting the planet’s resources for future generations.

"Feeding nearly 10 billion people by 2050 is not a question of farming more land; it is a question of farming existing land in a better way. That means fusing decades of agronomic expertise with data and AI in ways previous generations could not have imagined.”

Securing the future of food is a challenge that unifies our scientists, researchers, engineers, data specialists, and digital innovators. Great ideas start with great people. That's why we're proud to bring together exceptional thinkers who are harnessing science and technology to help farmers do what they do best.

Our workforce likes it here too, with many employees spending 25 years or more with the company.

“I’m in my seventh role in almost 19 years at Syngenta”, says Melissa Lord, Product Lead. “I’ve grown from a technical support role through communications and experiential marketing roles into product strategy. Over the years, I’ve developed and deepened skills in communication, project management, people leadership, and strategy development and implementation. The Product Lead role gives you one of the best views of the many functions and experts that work together to bring products to market. Depending on interest and skillset, someone could pursue positions in sales leadership, key accounts, digital agriculture, marketing leadership, to name just a few categories.”

Throughout her time at Syngenta, Melissa has been supported by management and training resources to grow professionally and expand her skillset. Although coursework and continuing education are available through the Learning & Development team, Melissa found that most of this growth took place on-the-job; building skills and knowledge while working alongside her colleagues: “Those who contribute, grow and thrive here bring curiosity, proactive collaboration and long-range thinking alongside the ability to lead through influence,” she says.

“I tell my friends to look for internships where they think they will have fun and feel appreciated,” says Hayden. “Find a great support system. That’s what Syngenta internships did for me. I felt comfortable asking anyone any question. And since I’ve joined Syngenta full time, I can truly say there’s something special here.”

Set down roots and branch out

Science and technology are constantly evolving—and we believe your career should too. At Syngenta, we encourage our employees to explore new career paths and roles in other parts of the business. Skills are transferable, and by offering opportunities to move to new departments, we equip our people with new perspectives on problem-solving.

We believe that careers are built through curiosity, movement, and meaningful contributions, not simply by climbing a ladder. We encourage our employees to make lateral moves, supporting career mobility to ensure they stay happy, motivated, and fulfilled.

Purpose moments

“My breakthrough moment was when I realized that mergers & acquisitions is much more than executing transactions.

It is about understanding the business, the strategy behind a transaction, the people involved and the value we want to create. That shift in perspective was important for me. It changed how I see my role: not only as a lawyer, but as someone who helps bring different workstreams and perspectives together. For me, “Breakthrough” means going beyond your own area of expertise and contributing to a shared goal.”

Caitlyn Black began her career at Syngenta on the finance team. In less than five years, she has progressed from her role in finance to Marketing & Customer Programs Manager on the marketing team. She says the opportunities for growth within the organization and the ability to contribute to global food security are truly motivating, and are a big part of why so many people choose to have long-lasting careers at the company:

“The people and the culture are a big part of what has made me stay,” she says. “I see Syngenta as a place with so much opportunity and many resources to help you grow and stay motivated. The people you work with truly care about you as a person and want to see you succeed. An employee can find support from their manager and peers to move across functional departments and to try different roles.”

Grow with an industry in motion

The future of agriculture is changing, and we need people who can keep up.

Whether you're deepening your expertise or developing new skills in emerging technologies, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation; building solutions with AI-powered agriculture, working with teams in more than 90 countries, and leading cross-functional projects that have tangible outcomes.

We offer our employees daily opportunities to learn and build an ever-evolving career.

“What I appreciate the most is that there are many learning opportunities and resources within the company and the company is willing to invest in you if you invest in your development,” remarks Haoyang Duo, Senior Breeding Project Lead – AGH Tomato.

“And, most importantly, we truly make a difference in the food business in a way that people can see in their daily lives.”

Collaboration that creates lasting change

For Melissa, a typical day involves solving complex challenges across numerous industries and with an array of stakeholders:

“The agricultural market is dynamic, and year after year — if not day to day — change is the norm. The intricacies of developing and then commercializing a product are hard to comprehend until you have a front-row seat. Even then, variables are constantly changing. Serving the US market effectively requires thinking beyond state and country policy, regulations and farming practices. Geopolitics, international trade policy and regulatory practices all materially impact the US farmer.”

She adds: “Within the US Crop Protection product marketing function, we work closely in technical and marketing pairs to set our product strategy. Not many other roles have this magnitude of day-to-day partnership inherent in the role.”

Diverse teams are better equipped to solve agriculture's most complex challenges, something Melissa has experienced firsthand:

“Our backgrounds, both personal and professional, and personalities are quite diverse across the team. We share a deep investment in our work, and we tap into each other’s strengths. Fundamentally, we care and support each other as humans; we’ve supported each other’s personal challenges and tragedies and celebrated each other’s joys and milestones.

“The core of this job is collaboration. "

“You will never be an expert in all the topics, processes, and systems that you rely on to deliver on your objectives, but you are surrounded by functional experts who are. They are a conversation away from helping you deliver and thrive in this role.”
