In agriculture, where reducing environmental impact is increasingly important, it’s vital to understand the true footprint of a product or solution. As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, we work to achieve what’s called Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification of our portfolio. This independent certification helps drive continuous improvement of our solutions and establishes ourselves as a partner of choice in the food production value chain.

What is EPD certification?

Think of an EPD as a nutrition label – but instead of showing you calories and ingredients, it shows you information about a product or service’s environmental impact along its entire life cycle. An EPD is an independently verified report that also allows comparison of products fulfilling the same function.
The impact of a product is measured by using the Life Cycle Assessment methodology, an objective approach which considers all the inputs and outputs associated with its life cycle, from raw materials extraction to the reuse, recycling or disposal of final waste.

Why is EPD important?

We believe that our goal to make agricultural production more sustainable while retaining quality and quantity can only be reached by making every link in the value chain sustainable, starting with our own solutions.
Having EPD certification also helps farmers and partners understand in a clear and objective way the true environmental footprint of our products, supporting their sustainable farming decisions with transparent, verified and comparable data.
From a business perspective, it allows us to gain deeper understanding of our environmental performances with the aim of continually improving our portfolio.
